Antoinette Wilson is a minister, pastoral narrative therapist and drama practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in pastoral support from a narrative therapy perspective. Her particular interests lie at the intersection of faith, identity, emotions, relationships and the stories people tell about themselves and their lives.
Antoinette matriculated at Pro-Arte High School in Pretoria, where she specialised in drama. She subsequently completed a BA in Theology and a BD in Theology, cum laude, at the University of Pretoria. Her further training includes Pastoral Narrative Therapy at Coram Deo. In 2026, she received a PhD in Practical Theology from the University of Pretoria. Her doctoral research explored drama therapy from a pastoral narrative perspective as a way of fostering emotional, social and spiritual resilience in early adolescents.
Her pastoral experience spans more than two decades and includes working with children, teenagers, young adults and adults. She was involved in the children’s ministry of Pretoria Evangelisation and Aftercare. She subsequently served as a minister with a particular focus on children and youth at NG Pretoria-Oosterlig where she developed Sunday-school and camp material that was used nationally. She also co pastered a congretaiton in Lydenburg. She is currently a part-time minister at NG Bothaville Noord.
Antoinette has also lectured in preaching practice at the University of Pretoria and in Pastoral Narrative Counselling at Coram Deo. She has worked as a pastoral counsellor at a high school and ran a drama school for more than a decade from a narrative-pastoral perspective.
Her particular areas of interest include life stories, identity, faith, loss and transition, emotional and spiritual resilience, and supporting children, teenagers and adults through times of change and challenging life experiences. Alongside narrative conversations, she incorporates elements of Narradrama where appropriate – an approach that allows people not only to talk about their stories, but also to explore them creatively and through embodied experience.
What Antoinette offers is a safe and compassionate space in which people can be heard without being defined by a problem or diagnosis. She believes that people are more than the most difficult story currently being told about their lives, and that alternative stories of courage, hope, love and perseverance are often already present.
A guiding principle in her work is: “The person is not the problem; the problem is the problem.” – Michael White.
Antoinette is married to Fredrick, who is also a minister, and they have three children who are currently studying.
