I grew up as a country girl in Ermelo, studied B.com and worked in a corporate environment till I discovered my real passion and calling in 2002…. working with adolescents and making a difference in their lives.
One of my favorite quotes is:
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Rings.
And this is what I decided to do with the time given to me – to give up the corporate world and journey with people, and especially with young people, and help make a difference in their lives.
Since 2002 I worked in youth ministry, and my vision was that w are here to reach young people, to journey with them in their surrender to God, to make them part of His family and to equip them to serve God with their lives
September 2012 I decided to leave full time ministry, and studied Pastoral Narrative Therapy at Coram Deo, affiliated with University of Pretoria. This is where this amazing journey with narrative therapy started. Through studying Narrative therapy, I re – visited my God given passion and calling, and started using my special talents and gifts, and my Narrative Therapy knowledge, to journey with young people in re-writing their life story. My journey with Coram Deo started as the coordinator and therapist for the adolescent part of Coram Deo, and I still love my affiliation with Coram Deo as Therapist, Lecturer and Supervisor.
I started supervision and intense training with FACT networking, focusing on sexual abuse and developmental phases of children and adolescents. In 2017 my journey with them started, where I give training on Adolescents and self-harm, and being the reference therapist for the adolescent clients.
Aside from this amazing age group and narrative therapy, I am in love with a few more things in life, I love my family, my husband and 2 adolescents, I have a special love for animals, to be creative and water-sport. My most amazing experience in the water was diving with sharks, and snorkeling with Manta Rays. One of the items on my bucket list, is definitely to dive with a whale shark.
Career wise, I do not know what the future has in hold for me. What I do know is that I am loved, called and chosen. I’m anointed and appointed, equipped and enabled by the power of God that works within me! I live, breathe and serve powerfully under the shelter of the Most High God.
